What is SHRM?
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the leading voice of the human resource profession, representing the interests of more than 50,000 professional and student members from around the world. Formerly the American Society for Personnel Management, SHRM provides its membership with education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representation, and publications that equip human resource professionals to become leaders and decision makers within their organizations.

Providing high quality, dynamic, and responsive programs and service to our customers;
Being the voice of the profession on Human Resource Management issues;
Facilitating the development and guiding the direction of the Human Resources profession;
Establishing, monitoring and updating certification requirements for the profession.

Meeting Information

The Quincy Area Chapter of SHRM meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of each month with the exception of the month of August. The meeting dates and topics for 2007 are as follows:

January 9, 2007: Special Meeting Co-Sponsored with the Quincy Chamber. Legislative and Legal Update featuring Representative Jil Tracy and Attorney Kent Gray from Giffen, Winning, Cohen and Bodewes.

February 13, 2007: Terry Berry presenting on "Building a Recognition Culture." Cancelled due to weather. Will be rescheduled

March 13, 2007: Bernard McKay from the Employers Association discussing Compensation Design

April 10, 2007: At Tiramisu - Al Sarno, professional counselor and HLG Professor discussing Teambuilding using the "On the Same Page" Technique.

May 15, 2007: Special Meeting Co-Sponosred with the Tri-State Healthcare Coalition. From 11:30-1:30 at the Quincy Business and Technology Center, 301 Oak, 5th floor. Topic - FMLA.

June 12, 2007: Annette Leerhoff of Gray - Hunter - Steen discussing changes to the Pension Protection Act and how they affect employer sponsored 401K's and Pension Plans.

August = No Meeting
